Artist's Statement
Rosemarie Murphy lives on the Thames Coast Road and can be found most Wednesday mornings working in Rose’s Studio at 860 Tiki Road, Coromandel Town.
She is a member of Pastel Artists Coromandel.
Rosemarie works mainly in Pastel but has dabbled in Pottery, Silk Dyeing, water colour and acrylic painting.
She is a member of Pastel Artists of New Zealand where she has attained the level of APANZ (Artist Member) and she is also a member of the Australian Pastel Artists Group. Rosemarie takes her inspiration from the Coromandel Coast and any other subjects such as Portraits, Animals and Floral. The effects of light are exciting, and she tries to portray that in her art.
Rosemarie has been juried into many of the PANZ Purely Pastel National Exhibitions that are held annually around New Zealand and won an Honorary Prize for her painting “Charlotte”s Party” in Dunedin.
Rosemarie has won several prizes in the PANZ bi-monthy newsletter competitions with her work.
In 2024 she was the Convenor for the very successful PANZ National Exhibition and Convention which was held in Morrinsville.
Rosemarie has been working with pastel for approximately 20 years and has done many
workshops with Master Pastelists in New Zealand and Australia.
