Rich and Overwhelming – Go Barbara!
Local watercolor and acrylic artist Barbara von Seida got recognized for the top quality of her work yet again, and by no other than NZ art critic TJ McNamara.
Barbara recently held a 2 week solo show at Mairangi Art Centre, North Shore called “Expression in Colour”, which was her first solo show in 6 years.
She got the opportunity to exhibit there as Runner-Up prize in the the Premier Award at the ‘Hibiscus & Bays Art Awards’ last November.
The competition judge T J McNamara, in opening Barbara’s exhibition on March 2nd, commented enthusiastically by saying( in part): “This is a rich, almost overwhelming exhibition of completely convincing paintings” and concluded by adding “What you are seeing is the work of a very, very accomplished painter.”
We’re as happy for the recognition as Barbara must be herself – do go and check out her hill-top studio during the Open Studios on the beautiful Wyuna Bay Peninsula which is just West of town. You can get a sneak preview here.
