Catherine Lorimer is our very special guest artist this year.
Catherine, from Ishigaki Island Okinawa/ Japan, has come to Driving Creek Potteries for a few months as artist in residence. Both her parents are potters who were part of the early days here at Driving Creek Potteries. In Japan Catherine shares a studio with her mother, Nami Miyoshi, but has come to work with her father, Paul Lorimer, who currently stays again at Driving Creek.
Catherine’s intricate decoration in bright primal colours reflects the flora and fauna of subtropical Okinawa with its turquoise blue coral lagoons, bright red, yellow flowers and multicoloured birds and fish. We are very fortunate to have her be part of this year’s Artstour.
